Thomas puffs into new and uncharted territory in his biggest adventure so far! After Thomas discovers the long-lost town of Great Waterton, The Fat Controller announces that this newly discovered town will be rebuilt to commemorate Sodor Day.

Thomas feels that his position as Sodor's Number 1 engine is under threat when a new engine named Stanley arrives to help with the restoration. The new engine is stronger and bigger than Thomas so he decides to play a trick on the Stanley, the new engine. When the plan backfires, Thomas finds himself lost and alone with the whole island hunting for him. With a mine shaft, a raging river and a giant leap over a mountain gorge to overcome, will Thomas be found and make it back to restore Great Waterton in time for Sodor Day?
